Julian Wachner's work, commissioned for the
BBC's 35th anniversary, combines passionate and
dramatic music with poetry by Sarah Teasdale,
e.e. cummings, John Clare, Emily Dickinson,
Alfred Tennyson and famed Turkik poet Ali-Shir
Nava'i whose poem forms the core and title of
the work. It speaks of two lovers' lives and how
that great love transcends death itself.
This performance at Sanders Theatre features
over 150 musicians, performing in one of the
best music venues in New England. Enjoy a fine
Spring evening out and hear perhaps the most
loved piece of 19th century choral music paired
with a passionate testament to love eternal from
the 21st.
